A murder and apparent child abduction outside Rome lead to a fairly standard police investigation - but the cops reckon without the skills and instincts of Deputy Captain Colomba Caselli, who suffered PSTD in the line of duty; and Dante Torre, who was also taken as a child - and in this case, sees the hand of his abductor.

These two are a terrific - and unusual - team, and this is a mystery thriller on a higher level than most. It's complex, clever, kept me guessing and could well be the next best thing since I Am Pilgrim.
